5 Things to do for the Spring Market
Spring is just around the corner or for many of us, it has stayed spring all winter, but nonetheless, it is that time of the year again. The time to open windows, play outside and declutter from the winter blues. In this blog, we are going to talk about 5 to do this spring to get your house ready for the market!
1. Spring-clean your house. When I say spring-clean, I mean deep clean, and when I say deep clean, I don’t mean the regular dusting, vacuum, and mopping that most people consider deep cleaning. I’m talking about:
-Wiping down walls, doors, and baseboards
-touching up chipped/damaged paint
-cleaning/replacing grout
-clean carpets
-wash windows
-replace filters throughout the home
2. Curb appeal! You have heard the saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Well, in real estate, judging the outside appearance is what a buyer will do. How your home looks on the outside will play a huge role in getting buyers to view your home. Here are a few things you can do to add some curb appeal to your home:
-freshly cut and weed eated grass
-water your lawn- keeping the grass green
-plant annuals or perennials
-trim your trees and shrubs
-add fresh mulch
-have a brightly painted front door
-spruce up the mailbox
-power-wash the deck, house, garage and porches
-clean up after pets
3. Declutter. You have been cooped up all winter, and if you are like me, you are more likely to hoard during the winter than you are during the summer. Here are a few tips on how to declutter your home after the winter:
-remove winter clothes from closets. Pack them up and store them in the attic
-clean out all closets
-clean out all drawers and cabinet
-go through garages and storage sheds
-donate what you do not need
4. Add fresh color to your home.
-buy new updated bedding
-remove heavy drapes and add light curtains
-add colorful pillows and furniture throughout the home
-update towels, shower curtains, and bath rugs
5. Do the repairs you kept putting off!
-replace the light bulbs
-fix the leaking sink
-touch up holes in the walls
-replace damaged window screens
These are just 5 things that can help get your home ready for the market this spring. Don’t wait! The market is hot, and these 5 improvements can make your home someone else’s dream home.
